Guided By: Himanshu Agarwal
Task Required:
1)Making a Base of 60x45 cm
2)Making of  12  X-links of 50 cm
3)Wooden ply for top of 65x50 cm

How we made a Base for the Mechanism:

1) From the Aluminium L section of 2 inches we cut 4 pieces of length 60cm and other 4 of 45 cm.This is how it looks like.
2) Now cutting all the pieces of L at 45 degrees from the edges so that they can be joined at 90 degrees.
3)After this we joined the L's to make a rectangular frame of 60x40 cm dimension. Thus we got 2 rectangular  frames.
·      We joined the aluminium L's with the help of brass L's (90 degree) from both the sides(inner and outer).
·      Thus we got a rigid rectangular frame.
·      This is how it looks like.
How we made X-links
1) From an aluminium strip we made 12 pieces of 50 cm.
2)Now we drilled two holes apart at distance of 48cm from each other and also at the center.
3)Now joining these links with the help of nuts and bolts such that they can be moved relatively to each other.
·      Thus we can stretch and contract the links as required.
·      This is how it looks like.
·      Here we have joined 3 X-links in the mechanism so that we can easily get the required height of 1 m.

Connecting X-Links to the Base.
·      For joining x-links to the base we hinged one end and joined a bearing(roller) on the other end so that it can slide over the aluminium L section.
·      We connected both the X-links on the 60cm aluminium section.
·      We connect the top base in the same way as the bottom.
·      To strengthen the X-links, we connected 2 rods between  the links at top and bottom and thus it provides enough strength to support the load at the top which we will put during the use.this looks like this.
·      Now after completing the main body,we attached wheels to our body to make it a mobile. This looks like as below.
Stopping Mechanism
·      An arrangement is made so that the mechanism can be stopped at any height as required.
Approximate costing
·      The cost for aluminium stripes is approx 410rs.
·      The cost for L section is approx 300rs.
·      The cost for bearings is 300rs.
·      The cost for Rods used as a supports is approximate 244rs.
·      Thus the total cost for the mechanism sums up to 1250 Rs.

·      Thus we are completed with our task and the final model looks like as below.
